About Woodcrest

Woodcrest is celebrating more than a decade of exceptional pet care! Woodcrest Kennel LLC is a Professional Show Kennel as well as a full service, all breed dog boarding, day care, and grooming facility located on Sawyer Brook Rd off of Rt. 10 in Orford, NH just 0.7 miles south of the Orford/Fairlee bridge. Our newly expanded facilities offer a state of the art home away from home for your pet, complete with heated/cooled runs, covered outdoor runs, sanitized wash down system, large exercise pens, and more. Dogs are our life and that's why more people in the Upper Valley choose Woodcrest to care for their beloved pets than any other pet care facility. We have been breeders for 25 years. Your pet will be housed in the same facility we use and trust to house our own show dogs and cared for by the same professional and experienced staff and groomers.

Woodcrest is a LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED business established in 1996 by Jay and Colleen Atwood who live on the premises. As a member of the American Boarding Kennels Association (ABKA), this kennel freely acknowledges and willingly accepts the serious responsibility involved in the care of your beloved pets. We always place the welfare of all boarded pets above all other business considerations. We welcome and encourage your inspection of our facilities.

We have been breeders of German Shepherd Dogs and currently Airedale Terriers for over 25 years. Our boarding and grooming service grew out of our reputation as breeders, and has grown due solely to our reputation for excellence. We rely solely on word of mouth advertising and advertising donations that benefit local community projects. Connections with people within the industry as well as veterinarians, have provided us with the blueprint for our successful business plan.

We hold memberships in the following: American Boarding Kennels Association, Airedale Terrier Club of America, The Airedale Terrier Club of New England. We frequently attend seminars sponsored by these organizations taught by world-renown trainers and experts in the field.

The driving force behind Woodcrest Kennel LLC is Jay Atwood. Jay can be described in one word - remarkable. Jay has an affinity with animals, particularly dogs. He is truly a man of vision, possessing the highest degree of personal integrity. He strives to be the best and to provide the best service, without qualification or question. A mere visit to Woodcrest Kennel LLC will provide testimony to Jay’s talents, vision, drive, and integrity.

Service Testimonials

"It's almost like leaving your dog at home - even better! Jay's very sensitive from the moment we bring a dog in. He knows what is needed intuitively, whether it is an old dog or a puppy. You can't get this kind of magic touch just anywhere. Jay is a breeder and he shows dogs. He has a whole network of resources to share. His price is reasonable and Woodcrest is the best kennel anyplace ever." -Charles Johnson, M.D.

Recent Media Coverage

Magazine Articles

We were very pleased to have been interviewed for two separate magazine articles earlier this year, both of which will be published later this fall.

The first article, written by Katherine Britton, is for Here In Hanover which is a local magazine in our region. The article will focus on profiles of four area breeders. This is the article for which the magazine shoot with Tory and the puppies was held a few weeks ago. The article should be published in the September issue of the quarterly publication.
